Independent preparation for the National Counselor Examination (NCE), built from 250 original, scenario-based multiple-choice questions written at an entry-level counseling standard and mapped to the current official NBCC content outline for the NCE -- the outline that applies to examinations taken before summer 2027 -- and its six scored domains, in official order and weight: Professional Practice and Ethics (12%), Intake, Assessment, and Diagnosis (12%), Areas of Clinical Focus (29%), Treatment Planning (9%), Counseling Skills and Interventions (30%), and Core Counseling Attributes (8%). Items are also cross-aligned to the eight CACREP common core areas without treating those areas as separate categories. This resource provides independent preparation only. It is NOT affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), the Center for Credentialing & Education (CCE), the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), or Pearson VUE, and it does not reproduce actual, sample, or secure exam items or reuse any secure exam content. A newer NCE content outline takes effect in summer 2027; this bank is built to the current outline for candidates testing before that date and does not claim to use the summer 2027 outline.
